I find that no matter what type of craft projects I'm doing, whether it's paper arts, jewelry making, mod podge or a DIY project, many of these items come in handy. Below are a few of my suggestions for essential tools and supplies needed when it comes to crafting.
Invest in some scissors. You'll need at least two different types for paper crafting, scrapbooking, altered art and fabric & fiber crafts. I personally like FISKARS, and have always kept at least one pair of these soft grip style close by.
Cutting mats can be used for quilting, applique and other fabric crafts, scrapbooking and alter art books as well as general crats. I've even used them with fondant for baking. These self-healing mats can be used with an X-acto type utility knife or rotary blade scissors and come printed with handy grid lines for quick and accurate measuring.
A Dremel Moto Saw is a good thing to have if you plan on doing any sort of woodworking craft or DIY projects. It can also be used on other materials such as PVC pipe, laminate or thin metal. It works both as a stationary scroll saw that can easily fit on your kitchen counter, but is also portable and lightweight, making it a great buy for using as a coping saw. Amazon has them at around $80.
PVC Pipe Cutter - for all those fabulous home DIY projects you see on Pinterest. This one only needs one hand to cut PVC piping up to 2" diameter. Click the pic for more specs, reviews and of course buying options.
